2012 Hyundai Azera Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A body shop near Harry A. Lyon Park in Ventura called me about a 2012 Azera that was completely dead to its keys. The shop had done a fender repair and needed the car moved, so they called another locksmith for a replacement smart key. That locksmith hit an error mid-programming and walked away. Told the shop the immobilizer module was bad.
When I got there, the OBD port would not handshake with the smart key module at all. The previous failed attempt left the system in a fault state where it rejected new key registration. The car just sat there, locked out of its own brain.
I pulled the immobilizer module and went to bench. Using my ACDP, I read the HITAG 2 data directly off the chip, cleared the fault state, and rebuilt the key registration clean. Put the module back in, paired a new SY5HMFNA04 with the correct ID46 transponder profile, and the push-button start caught on the first try after the reset.
About 80 minutes total including the bench work. The body shop had already been quoted a flatbed to the Hyundai dealer and a multi-day wait. I had the car running in the parking lot before lunch.
The body shop guy watched me pull the module and just said, "So it wasn't broken." Nope. Just stuck in a bad state from an interrupted write.
