2015 Hyundai Azera
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How long will a replacement key last?

The programming doesn't wear out. A properly paired fob on the 2015 Azera will hold its pairing indefinitely unless the vehicle security system gets reset or all keys are cleared. Physically, the fob shell and the battery are the weak points. The CR2032 typically runs one to three years depending on how often you're in and out of the car. Shell quality matters too - we use housings built for daily carry, not the lightest-weight option available.

Q: What if the new key stops working after a few weeks?

Call us. The work is covered under our warranty. That said, if a properly programmed fob goes dark on a 2015 Azera, the car is usually the place to look, not the key. Owners of similar-era Hyundai push-button vehicles have reported situations where a software update or a battery disconnect wiped the registered key memory, leaving a perfectly good fob unrecognized. When that happens you're not looking at a bad fob - you're looking at a re-registration job.

Q: Can I add a second key myself, or do I need a technician?

You need a technician with diagnostic equipment. The 2015 Azera uses a push-button proximity system, and there is no ignition-turn sequence or button trick that registers a new fob to this car. That onboard self-programming method exists on older Hyundais with a blade key turning in an ignition cylinder. This is a different setup entirely. New fob registration goes through the diagnostic port, and the system requires the correct software to communicate with the vehicle security system.

Q: I lost both keys for my 2015 Azera. Is that a harder job?

Yes, but it's a standard job. All-keys-lost on this generation Hyundai takes longer than an add-a-key because the system goes through a full security reset before new fobs can be registered. Budget more time on site than a simple spare key job. Bring your VIN and a valid ID - ownership verification is part of the process and there are no shortcuts around it.

2015 Hyundai Azera Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a woman over in Pacific View, right off the main shopping stretch near the Pacific View mall. Her 2015 Azera had been acting up for about a week - intermittent key-not-detected warnings, then the door handle touch unlock went unreliable on the driver side, then one morning it just stopped detecting the fob entirely. She assumed she needed a whole new key.

When I pulled up she handed me the fob and the first thing I noticed was the battery contact. The CR2032 was the right battery, but it had that slight tarnish on the contact point that kills voltage just enough to confuse the system. I cleaned the contacts, seated a fresh battery, and the warning cleared immediately.

But that wasn't the whole story. The driver-side door handle touch unlock was still flaky. I walked the car, tested every function on the fob, checked the start button response. Everything else was working clean. That isolated the issue to the driver door handle sensor, not the key. I let her know what she was looking at on the door side and what to watch for.

She didn't need a new fob. She needed someone who would actually work through it instead of selling her hardware she didn't need. That's the job.

Hyundai Azera Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Do you use OEM or aftermarket keys on Hyundai vehicles?▼

We use blanks that are verified to match the factory FCC ID and battery spec for your specific vehicle. This matters more than it sounds with the Azera because fobs that look identical on the outside can have different internal configurations, and a mismatch means the vehicle security system simply won't accept the pairing no matter how good the programming equipment is. Aftermarket fobs from online marketplaces are inconsistent.
