2017 Hyundai Azera
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know you're not one of those scam locksmiths?

Scam locksmiths are a real problem in California, and smart key emergencies are a favorite target because people are stressed and need the car running now. The pattern is always the same: a low number over the phone, then a number you don't recognize when they're done. EZ Car Keyz has over 100,000 followers across YouTube and TikTok. You can watch us do this exact work before you ever call.

Q: Will the replacement smart key work exactly like my original?

Yes. The replacement gets programmed to your specific vehicle, and every function gets tested before I close up and leave. Lock, unlock, push-button start response, the panic button, everything on that 4-button fob. There's a version of this job that goes wrong when someone programs a fob but doesn't test the full sequence.

Q: I have a spare key for my Azera but I never programmed it. Can you add it while you're already here?

Yes, and that's honestly the smart move. Adding a second smart key to the 2017 Azera requires the same diagnostic connection as a primary key job, and since the equipment is already on the car, the incremental time is short. The vehicle security system keeps a registry of paired fobs, so an unpaired spare sitting in a drawer does nothing for you. Get it registered while I'm there and you're covered if the primary fob ever fails again.

Q: The start button on my Azera is lit up but won't crank. The fob battery is new. What is going on?

This is one of the more common complaints on late-model Azera forums and it has a few different causes, which is why it's worth thinking through before assuming the fob is the problem. First thing to check: position. On push-button start systems, the car needs to detect the fob inside the cabin at a readable signal strength.

2017 Hyundai Azera Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

She was in a parking lot off Gonzales Road, just a few minutes from Victoria Estates. Her toddler had spiked a fever at the pediatrician and she needed to get home. The 2017 Azera wasn't going anywhere.

It was past 6:30 in the evening. The dealer was closed. She called me and I told her I was about 20 minutes out.

When I got there, the fob wasn't completely dead. It would occasionally trigger the door handles, then nothing. That kind of intermittent behavior on these usually points to one thing: battery corrosion on the contact inside the housing. I popped the fob open on the hood. Sure enough, there was light oxidation on the positive contact from an old battery that had sat too long. The CR2032 itself was borderline, but the contact wasn't making a clean connection even when it had juice.

I replaced the fob, got it programmed through the OBD port, and then did the part that matters: walked every function. Lock, unlock, the push-button start response, the panic button, and the backup start procedure so she'd have it if a battery ever died on her again without warning.

From her call to engine running was 44 minutes. She got her kid home.

The dealer would have been a wait until morning and a noticeably heavier bill. That part almost didn't come up. She just wanted to go.

Hyundai Azera Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Are you licensed and insured to work on Hyundai vehicles?▼

Yes. EZ Car Keyz is a California BSIS licensed locksmith company, fully insured, and a NASTF Vehicle Security Professional. The NASTF credential matters here because accessing vehicle security data for newer Hyundai smart key systems requires that you operate through a verified, credentialed channel. Not every locksmith who shows up for a Hyundai job has that paperwork in order. We do.
