A guy in the East Ventura neighborhood called me from his driveway. His 2002 Tiburon had been sitting for about a week and the key finally gave up. Not the battery, not the starter. The blade itself was worn thin at cuts 3 and 4, and the wafers in the ignition were grabbing hard enough that he could feel it flexing every time he turned it. He stopped forcing it because he'd already snapped a key in another car years ago and didn't want to live through that again.

I pulled out my HY14 Lishi tool and decoded off the driver door cylinder, where the wafers hadn't been ground down by ten thousand ignition cycles. Got all eight cuts clean. The door side almost always reads better on high-mileage Hyundais because people only use it a few times a week versus every single start.
Cut the new HY14 blade on the van, dropped in a fresh Philips ID46 transponder chip, and connected to the OBD-II port to pull the PIN from the immobilizer module. One learn cycle, the ID46 registered, and the car fired right up on the first turn.
Whole thing took maybe 25 minutes. He said the dealer quoted him a tow plus a multi-day wait just to get on the schedule. He was pulling out of his driveway before he would've even finished sitting on hold.
