2003 Hyundai Tiburon Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a body shop over in the Montalvo neighborhood in Ventura. A 2003 Tiburon GT had come in for fender work, and somewhere along the way the only key went missing. The shop called another locksmith first. That guy came out, tried to program through the OBD port, got an error mid-sequence, and walked. Left the immobilizer module in a fault state where it wouldn't accept any new key registration at all.
The shop owner sounded tired when he called me. "The other guy said the module's fried."
I brought my ACDP bench tool. When I plugged into the OBD port, the immobilizer module wouldn't communicate. The failed attempt had locked it out. So I pulled the module, read the ID46 transponder data directly off the chip on the board, cleared the fault, and rebuilt the key registration from scratch.
Cut a new HY14R-PT blank, loaded the ID46 chip data, dropped the module back in. System took the key on the first attempt. Engine turned over clean.
The whole thing ran about 80 minutes, most of that on the bench work. The body shop had already priced the alternative: flatbed to the Hyundai dealer, multi-day wait, and a bill that would have been way more than what I charged. The shop owner just shook his head and said he wished he'd called me first.
