A limo driver near the Goleta Valley Community Center in Goleta called me early one morning. His key had snapped in the ignition of his 2013 Lincoln MKS. I programmed through OBD using the Autel IM608, waited out the security timer, and registered the new key to PATS. The whole system shares its guts with the Ford Taurus, so there were no surprises.
He stood next to the car the entire time, checking his phone, not nervous exactly but doing that thing where you keep refreshing the same screen. When the engine turned over he just nodded and started adjusting his mirrors.
Back on the road in under an hour, security timer included. The dealer route would have meant a tow and a multi-day wait. He made his pickup.
