Got a call from a guy off Tapo Canyon Road in Simi Valley. His 1999 Bonneville was sitting in the driveway with one working key and a remote that had been dead for over a year. The 1999 Bonneville uses a learn procedure through the Body Control Module, which on this generation means a specific ignition cycle, then holding two buttons on the remote until the locks cycle to confirm. Took about ten minutes from start to finish. All four buttons: lock, unlock, trunk release, panic. Tested every one at the car.
The part that got him was the trunk button. He pressed it, the trunk popped, and he just stood there for a second. Told me he'd been using the interior lever for so long he forgot the remote even did that.
Whole thing was done in his driveway in Simi Valley for a fraction of what the dealer quoted him. He didn't have to leave the house.
