Over in the Mira Monte area of Ojai, a personal trainer pulled into his gym lot at 4:45 in the morning with one working Fobik. One. He'd bought the 2017 Ram 2500 used, always meant to get a spare, never did. Three years of that.
The shell had been cracked at the blade pivot for a while. That morning it finally gave. Blade snapped clean off inside the Wireless Ignition Node when he went to start the truck before his 5am class. Fobik pod in one hand, broken blade stuck in the column. Zero working keys.
I got out there fast. Used my Lishi pick to extract the broken blade piece from the WIN module without scratching the wafers. His old Fobik board was still alive, so I could read the Hitag AES transponder data off it with my VVDI Key Tool and skip the full all-keys-lost security reset, which on the Sentry Key system adds real time. Cut a fresh Y170 blade, rebuilt the GQ4-53T into a new housing, programmed it, and tested every button including the remote start.
He made his 5am class.
The dealer wouldn't have been open for hours, and the quote he got later over the phone was way more than what he paid me. If your Fobik is cracked and you're still driving on it, get the spare made now. The blade pivot will let go eventually.
