2023 Ram 2500 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
An HVAC tech over at the taco spot near Camino Real Marketplace in Goleta needed a spare key for his 2023 Ram 2500. He had one working fob, no backup, and was hauling equipment every day. He knew what happened to guys who lost their only key on a job site.
He called the dealer first. The wait for a parts appointment was over a week out and the quote he got back made him sit on it a while. A coworker who'd used me before passed along my number.
I came to him at his truck in the parking lot. The 2023 Ram 2500 smart key system requires diagnostic equipment to register a new fob. There is no ignition trick, no button sequence. You need the right tools talking to the vehicle's security system through the OBD port, reading the stored security data, and enrolling the new key. I ran through that process, cut the emergency insert blade to match his existing key, and tested every function on both fobs before I packed up.
Thirty minutes, maybe a little less. Both keys working. He saved a good chunk compared to the dealer number he'd been quoted, and he didn't lose half a workday sitting in a service waiting room.
He mentioned the driver profile thing on the way out, said his seat position reset weird on him once before. I told him how to sort it in Uconnect. That part's free.
