Near the RV storage yard off Lake Los Carneros, a retired teacher called me about her 2020 Ram 2500. The fob housing had split from a concrete drop. The plastic was cracked through, the emergency blade was barely hanging in, and the whole thing looked rough. But she said it still started the truck when she held it close to the start button.

It just isn't always what the situation calls for.
I transferred the internals into a new housing, seated a fresh CR2032, and ran through every button including the lock, unlock, and the remaining buttons one at a time. Then I walked both door handles, tested the start, and made sure her Uconnect driver profile was still linked so the seat and mirrors came back to her position.
The whole thing took about 25 minutes. She paid a fraction of what the dealer wanted, and it was done in her storage yard, not in a service bay queue somewhere.
