2012 Scion XD Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A temp worker called me at 7:30 in the morning from a staffing office parking lot near Hummingbird Trailhead in Simi Valley. Her 2012 Scion XD remote head key had cracked apart that morning. The blade was loose in the shell and she couldn't get it to turn the ignition anymore. She had to be at a job site by 8:30 or she'd lose the placement.

The MOZB41TG shell had split right along the seam where the blade seats. Common failure point on these Scion remote heads. The plastic gets brittle after a few years in a pocket, and once it cracks, the blade has no support and just flops around. She'd been holding it together with her thumb to start the car for a week.
I decoded her lock with my TOY43 Lishi, verified the bitting, cut a new blade into a fresh 3-button remote head shell with the correct 4D-67 chip, and programmed it through the OBD port. The whole thing took about 20 minutes of hands-on time.
She sat on the curb watching and checking her phone. When I handed her the new key and the engine turned over clean, she just nodded, grabbed her bag, and left. No speeches. She had somewhere to be.
The dealer route would have meant a tow, a wait for parts, and a missed day she couldn't afford to lose. This was a fraction of that.
