2013 Scion XD Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in the Oak Park area of Simi Valley, a woman called me from the Lenscrafters parking lot on a Monday. Her 2013 Scion XD needed a replacement key and she had already tried the Toyota dealer. Scion shut down its own service network back in 2016, so everything routes through Toyota now. They told her Thursday at the earliest, and the key would need to be ordered.
Four days without her car. She drives every day.
I got to the lot that same afternoon. Popped the key data off the vehicle through the OBD port using my Smart Pro, confirmed the system was running the 4D-67 transponder protocol on the standard Toyota immobilizer. Cut the TOY43 blade on site, programmed the MOZB52TH with all three buttons, lock, unlock, and panic.
Whole thing took about 25 minutes. The part that always matters to me is the walkthrough at the end. I tested ignition start twice, cycled all three remote buttons from multiple distances, and confirmed the immobilizer light on the dash dropped off within two seconds of key-in, which is the normal behavior on these.
She stood there watching the dash like she expected it to argue.
Monday call, Monday fix. She kept the rest of her week intact and paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted, without ever needing a tow.
