A woman staying at a rental near Bard Reservoir in Thousand Oaks called me about her 2003 Celica. She had one key left and the remote had stopped talking to the car. Lock button, nothing. Reprogrammed the remote back to her receiver using the OBD-based procedure, then confirmed all three buttons: lock, unlock, trunk. She opened the trunk from ten feet away and just stood there for a second like she was making sure it was real.
The whole visit was about 20 minutes. She had called a dealer earlier that day and they quoted her a new remote plus a scheduled appointment mid-next-week. She saved a good chunk and got it handled the same night.
