A retired professor up in Upper Village, Montecito, had been running on one key for his 2004 Volvo S80 for over a year. He knew he needed a spare. The problem was the nearest Volvo dealer meant freeway driving, and he had stopped doing freeways a while back. He lived alone, no one to tag along for the ride. So the errand just never happened.

I used my Lishi HU56 to decode the driver lock, cut a fresh blade, and got the ID48 transponder synced through the OBD port. His existing remote, the LQNP2T-APU five-button flip, paired back up after a quick CEM handshake.
While I was there I popped his remote open and showed him the CR2032 seat. His battery still had life but the contact tabs had some light corrosion. Cleaned those, snapped it back together, tested lock, unlock, trunk, panic, and the fifth button on all doors.
Handed him two working keys before he left for his morning walk. He just stood there holding them both and said he wished he had called a year ago.
The whole thing took about 25 minutes in his driveway. No freeway, no service counter, no waiting on ordered parts.
