I got a text from a guy in North Fillmore who had pinned himself into a bad spot. His S80 was sitting in a parking area off the main road, only key somewhere on the ground between the car and wherever he'd walked earlier. Not at a dealer, not in a shop lot. Just a car with nobody getting into it.

That step matters a lot on Volvos because the security module holds information you do not want to lose mid-job. Once the backup was done, I built out a working fob from a blank, registered it, and tested every function including the emergency blade in the door cylinder.
The whole job happened in that parking area. He watched the fob come together on the hood of his car. When it started he just kind of exhaled.
He mentioned he'd looked up what a dealer would charge and then add a tow on top since the car wasn't going anywhere. What I charged was a fraction of that. Not the point of the job, but he brought it up.
