Over by the Fillmore Towne Theatre, a woman flagged me down from the curb next to her 2008 S80. She had one working smart key left and wanted a spare before that one disappeared too. Her first key had already gone missing somewhere between her office and her glovebox.

I pulled up to her S80, plugged into the OBD port, and connected to the CEM module. On these second-gen S80s, the CEM is the gatekeeper for the entire immobilizer system. It stores the key IDs and handles the encrypted handshake with the fob's ID48 transponder chip. I used my VVDI to read the CEM security data, generated a new transponder profile matched to her car, and loaded it into a fresh KR55WK49266 shell with a cut insert blade.
Lock, unlock, trunk, panic, all six buttons. Push to start, engine running. Walk-away lock. Done on the sidewalk in about 25 minutes.
She sat in the driver's seat and tested the push-to-start three times in a row, like she was waiting for it to argue with her. It didn't.
The whole thing cost her a fraction of what the dealer quoted, and she never left the block.
