2006 Volvo Xc70 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over in the Spring Road area of Moorpark, a woman had just finished at the allergist with her daughter. It was about 5:30 in the evening and the medical building was locking up for the night.
Her 2006 Volvo XC70 would not respond to the remote flip key at all. No lock, no unlock, nothing. She tried standing closer, tried both sides. Dead.
The Volvo dealer was already closed. She called me.
I got to her in the lot, opened the door, and popped the LQNP2T-APU fob apart on the hood. The CR2032 had leaked just enough to corrode one of the battery contacts inside the shell. That killed the remote signal and the transponder chip was not transmitting to the CEM either, so the immobilizer had the car locked out completely. No start, no crank, just the ignition warning sitting there on the dash.
I replaced the fob, cut the blade to match, and connected my programmer to the OBD-II port to write the new transponder to the CEM. Then ran remote enrollment separately, which is how these P2 Volvos work. Two procedures, not one. Tested all five buttons, cycled the ignition twice, confirmed the immobilizer accepted the new chip.
From her call to engine running was under 50 minutes. She got her daughter home before dinner instead of leaving the XC70 overnight in a closed medical lot. The dealer would have meant waiting until morning and paying a good chunk more for the same result.
