A driver near the Collins Drive corridor in Moorpark called me about his 2007 Volvo XC70. Said the key had been getting stiffer in the ignition for weeks and he could feel it on the edge of snapping. He did not want to force it one more turn.
Smart move. The HU101 blade on his LQNP2T-APU flip key was worn paper thin. You could see daylight through the shoulder. The wafers inside the ignition were catching on the rounded cuts, and one hard twist would have left the blade stuck in the cylinder. Then you are talking tow truck, ignition pull, the whole mess.
I used an HU101 Lishi on the driver door where the wafers were still clean, decoded the cuts, and ran a fresh blade on my machine. The transponder side was the easy part. The P2 platform XC70 uses an ID46 chip and the CEM handles immobilizer auth through the OBD port. One programming cycle, the dash cleared, and the car fired on the first turn.
Whole thing was done in about 35 minutes, right in his driveway. He asked what the dealer would have charged. I told him it would have been way more, plus a tow to the nearest Volvo store since there is not one in Moorpark, plus days without his car while they ordered a key blank and scheduled time.
He kept the old key as a backup remote. The buttons on the LQNP2T-APU still worked fine, just the blade was done.
