No. The 2004 Corvette setup is a separate key and a separate fob. The key blade cuts to the ignition and door locks. The fob is its own unit that handles the remote functions. There is no blade tucked inside the fob housing the way you see on some later GM keyless systems. If you lose the key blade, that's a cutting and programming job. If you lose the fob, that's a separate remote programming job. They can fail independently, and we handle each on site.

My 2004 Corvette cranks and immediately dies. Is that a key problem or something else?

A crank-and-stall in about two seconds, combined with a security warning on the dash, points directly at the immobilizer not recognizing the key. The system cuts fuel as a theft deterrent when it doesn't see a valid transponder. Common causes: a key that was never fully learned to begin with, a key learn that was done incorrectly and only held temporarily, or a damaged transponder chip in the key itself. It can also happen after a dead battery if the module lost stored data, though that's less common on this generation. Don't let anyone tell you the module is bad until the key learn has been properly verified and redone from scratch. That's where most of these "bad module" diagnoses fall apart.

My 2004 Corvette fob stopped working but the key still starts the car fine. Do I need a new fob?

Start with the battery. The fob takes a CR2032 and they do go dead without much warning. Swap it, make sure it seats flat against the contacts, and retest all four buttons. If one button works and others don't, the contacts on the dead buttons may just need a clean. If the fob does nothing after a fresh battery, it may have lost its pairing with the car or the fob itself is faulty. Remote reprogramming on this generation is a separate process from the ignition transponder learn, so a fob that lost its pairing doesn't mean anything is wrong with the key or the immobilizer. Those two systems operate independently on this car.
