2015 Chevrolet Corvette
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A Bressi Ranch resident called me on a weeknight. She had driven her 2015 Corvette to run errands and when she came back out, the fob was unresponsive. No door unlock, no start. She tried holding it closer to the start button the way everyone does, nothing. The car just sat there.

She had already called the dealer. They told her she would need to get it towed in and they could look at it the following day. She was not interested in leaving a Corvette overnight in a parking lot.

I was there in about twenty minutes. The first thing I did was check the emergency blade and the mechanical cylinder at the door handle, got her into the car that way. Then I pulled up the fob and checked the battery contact points. The battery was reading low but not completely dead, which is actually a common confusion point on these. A partially discharged battery can produce inconsistent behavior where the car sees the fob sometimes and not others, and owners assume the fob or the car's security system is the bigger problem.

Fresh battery, proper contact seating, and the fob came back. Tested every function, tested the start, walked the doors. Done.

She did not need a replacement fob at all. The dealer would have had the car on a flatbed, checked it the next afternoon, and billed for diagnostic time on top of whatever they found. She was back in her car that same night, right there in Bressi Ranch, for a fraction of what that route would have cost.
