2020 Chevrolet Corvette Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a guy parked near the Montgomery area of Chula Vista, not far off the main stretch. He'd walked out to his 2020 Corvette, hit the fob, and the car just sat there. No response. He tried the door handle, nothing. He'd owned the car less than a year and had never needed a spare.
He'd already done the obvious thing and figured it was the battery. It wasn't the battery. He'd actually put in a fresh cell the week before, but he couldn't remember what size. When I got there, I opened the fob right there in the parking lot and found a CR2032 sitting where a CR2450 belongs. The thinner battery still makes contact, so it reads as "installed," but it doesn't deliver consistent power under load. Everything looks fine until the car asks the fob to do real work.
Swapped in the correct CR2450, and the fob woke right up. Then came the slower part: walking every function, confirming the car recognized the key properly, and verifying the security system had no pending faults logged from the failed attempts. It was clean.
He asked about a spare at that point. Smart call. Getting a second fob made while I was already there and already set up took care of it in one trip. He hadn't even thought about what a dealer appointment would have looked like for this car. I didn't bring it up. He was just glad to be back in the seat.
