She was at a taco stand patio in Oceanside after a long shift and her bag was gone. Someone had grabbed it off the table with her car keys, wallet, and phone inside. She borrowed the cashier's phone and called the police first, then her sister, then me.
Her 2020 Honda Civic was in the lot with zero keys. Her smart key, FCC ID KR5V2X, was a 5-button proximity fob. I decoded the lock with my Lishi, cut the emergency blade, and had both fobs working before the police called back.
She drove home that night. Total was $264 for two new keys. The dealer estimated $468 plus a tow and a multi-day wait. The stolen key can still physically open the door, but the immobilizer won't let the engine start. She had two fresh keys and the old one was effectively dead to the car.
