2022 Honda Civic Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A photographer called me from Downtown Lemon Grove after hiking back from a canyon overlook lot where his 2022 Civic was sitting with zero working keys. He had been on a shoot, set his fob down somewhere in the field, and couldn't find it. No physical key slot to fall back on. He'd already called two other locksmiths who told him all-keys-lost on a push-button Honda was dealer-only.
It isn't.
I drove out to meet him. The car was right where he left it, locked, quiet, completely indifferent to the situation. All-keys-lost on this generation of Civic means the immobilizer has no enrolled fobs to recognize, so it won't wake up for a start attempt. The process involves accessing the immobilizer through the OBD port, clearing the existing key memory, and then enrolling the new fob into the system from scratch. I backed up the immobilizer data first as a precaution, then ran the all-keys-lost sequence. His replacement fob, five buttons, matched the factory spec for his car.
When the engine turned over, he just stood there for a second. He said he'd been told at least three times that morning that he'd need a tow and a dealer appointment.
He didn't need either. He needed someone with the right equipment willing to drive out there. The dealer would have been a tow bill plus a multi-day wait plus a quote that made him wince when he described it later. We handled the whole thing on site, and he made it back for the second half of his shoot.
