2025 Honda Civic Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over in Berry Park, Imperial Beach, I got a call from a guy who had snapped the key blade inside the ignition of his 2025 Honda Civic. Not a partial break. Clean in half.
He had already called another locksmith before me. That locksmith told him the ignition cylinder would need to be drilled out and replaced, new cylinder, new keys, the whole thing. He did not like the sound of that, so he called for a second opinion.
I extracted the broken blade fragment from the ignition using a proper extraction tool, working carefully around the wafer surfaces so nothing inside got damaged. Once the fragment was out, I decoded the lock by reading each wafer position directly. That gave me the exact cut profile for a replacement key without needing the original.
The 2025 Civic uses a smart key setup, so once the blade was cut I connected through the OBD port and programmed the new fob to the vehicle. The whole job was done on the street in front of his place.
No drilling. No cylinder replacement. The lock works exactly the same as before I arrived. He saved a good chunk compared to what the other locksmith had priced out, and he did not have to sit on the freeway shoulder waiting for a tow.
That is the job. Decode the lock, cut the blade, program the key, test everything, leave.
