2006 Lexus GS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy over at Coronado Shores had picked up a used 2006 Lexus GS from a private seller a few weeks before he called me. Clean car, clearly well kept, but the seller handed it over with one key and told him to sort out a spare on his own.
He had already called the Lexus dealer. They gave him a number that made him check if they had read it wrong. They had not. He went online, found EZ Car Keyz, and asked me if that quote was actually normal. I told him dealer pricing on a Lexus Smart Key is real, and it reflects a lot of overhead that has nothing to do with the key itself.
I drove out to meet him in the parking area near his building. The original fob was in good shape, the transponder was reading clean, and the vehicle had no add-a-key issues going in. I brought a blank fob, programmed both keys into the vehicle security system using my diagnostic equipment, and cut a replacement blade to match the original on my machine.
When it was done he had two working keys. Every button on both fobs checked out, both started the car, both handled the doors. He paid a fraction of what the dealer wanted for one key.
The part he seemed most relieved about was the spare itself. He knew that if he ever loses one now, the next call is an add-a-key job. On a vehicle like this, that is a much simpler situation than all-keys-lost.
