I used my TOY43R Lishi to extract the broken fragment without touching the wafer surfaces. I decoded the lock from the readings, cut a fresh blade, and programmed the chip through OBD. His key uses a separate remote, FCC ID , so the fob was fine. He just needed the new blade and transponder.
No drilling, no cylinder swap. Total was $95. The other locksmith's destructive approach would have been $200 or more with a new cylinder and reprogrammed keys. His original lock works with the new key exactly as before.
