2016 Lexus GS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Buena Creek, I got a call from someone who had already been through a frustrating week with her 2016 Lexus GS. The fob had been acting up for a few days before it stopped being recognized altogether.
She'd already priced it at the dealer. Parts department wanted to order the fob, then she'd need to schedule a separate programming appointment, and the earliest open slot was more than a week out. She works long days and the car lives in her building's garage. Getting it to a dealer on a weekday wasn't happening without rearranging her schedule around a tow.
I showed up during her lunch break.
She met me at the car and I got a look at the existing fob first. The battery was original, four years into its life, and the contacts had just enough film on them that I cleaned them before even pulling out the programmer. It didn't bring it back. The fob was done.
I connected to the OBD port, ran the registration sequence for the new fob, cut the emergency insert blade to her vehicle, and tested every function while she watched. Both door handles. All four buttons. Push-to-start. The whole thing took about 35 minutes.
She asked if I wanted to wait in the lobby. I told her I was already packed up.
She saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer had quoted her, and she didn't lose a single client meeting to get it done.
