2010 Toyota Camry
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2010 Toyota Camry Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy visiting his in-laws over in Bressi Ranch called me about a spare key for his 2010 Camry. Not a panic call. He just wanted a working daily spare, something he could actually use and not just stuff in a junk drawer.

His first question, before he even told me where he was, was whether an aftermarket fob would be as good as what the dealer sells. He had done some reading.

It is a fair question and it deserves a real answer. The fob the dealer sells carries a Toyota logo on the housing. That is mostly what you are paying extra for. The aftermarket blanks I carry for this generation Camry use the same button layout, the same four-button configuration, the same emergency insert blade cut to the vehicle, and a compatible transponder chip that pairs correctly with the immobilizer. I have run these blanks across a lot of Toyota jobs. I test every batch before it goes in the van. Blanks that feel cheap or program inconsistently get sent back. My reviews depend on the work holding up, not just on the job leaving the driveway.

I cut the blade on site and programmed the fob through the diagnostic port. He watched the whole thing from the driveway. When I ran through the button functions and the door handle touch unlock, everything came back clean.

He asked at the end what the dealer would have charged. I told him to call and ask. He already knew the answer was going to be a lot more than what he paid me.
