2011 Toyota Camry Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
It was around 9 p.m. when a guy called me from an empty office park near Peutz Valley in Alpine. One key. Gone. He had checked every pocket, retraced the whole day, walked the sidewalk with his phone flashlight. Nothing.
He was already thinking tow truck. Did not have his registration on him, did not know his VIN off the top of his head, and the dealer was closed. He was just stuck there in a dark lot trying to figure out his next move.
I told him to stay on the phone. Look at the lower driver's side of the windshield, right at the base where the glass meets the dash. He found the VIN in about thirty seconds. Then I had him pull up his insurance app, which had the registration info he needed for ownership verification. That was it. I had everything before I even started the drive out.
Because I had the VIN early, I knew exactly what I was walking into. The right key blank and the right fob were already in the bag when I left. I got there, verified ownership, and built him a working Smart Key under the parking lot lights. New fob, programmed to his immobilizer, insert key cut to his vehicle. Every button tested before I packed up.
He drove home that night. The dealer would have meant a tow, a morning appointment, and a wait. The VIN is the most useful thing you can give me before I arrive. Text it when you call and the whole job moves faster.
