2005 Buick Rendezvous
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know if I have the right replacement key for a 2005 Buick Rendezvous?

The blade cut has to match your ignition and door locks, and the transponder chip inside the key head has to be programmed specifically to your vehicle. A key that's cut correctly but not programmed will turn the ignition and you'll see that solid security light, then nothing. A key that's programmed but cut wrong won't even turn. You need both.

Q: Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. EZ Car Keyz is licensed through the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, fully insured, and bonded. We're also BBB A+ rated and part of Google's Guaranteed program. You can look all of it up independently. I'd encourage it.

Q: The security light on my 2005 Rendezvous stays on solid and the car won't start. Is my key bad or is it something else?

A solid security light that holds after you turn the key is almost always the vehicle security system failing to read the transponder. Could be a worn or damaged key where the chip is cracked inside the head. Could be the vehicle lost sync with the key after a dead battery or a jump start. Could be a failing transponder reader near the ignition cylinder. Start by trying your spare if you have one.

Q: Can I cut a replacement key for my 2005 Rendezvous without going to a dealer?

Yes. A mobile locksmith can cut and program a replacement key on site. The blade can be cut by decoding your existing key or from the key code on file. Programming is done through the OBD port. No dealer visit needed, no towing, no leaving your car somewhere for days. I carry what I need to handle this in Ventura, including the Thille/Montalvo area, without you going anywhere.

2005 Buick Rendezvous Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy in the Thille/Montalvo area of Ventura. Parking lot of a cafe, early morning. He had a client meeting he couldn't push. His 2005 Buick Rendezvous had a solid security light on the dash and wouldn't crank at all.

He'd already called the dealer. They wanted the car towed in and quoted him a multi-day turnaround. That wasn't going to work.

I was there in about 20 minutes. The key blade looked fine, no visible damage, nothing bent. He said the car had sat for a few days after the battery had gone low and been jumped. That kind of power interruption can knock the transponder out of sync with the vehicle security system, and that's exactly what had happened here.

I connected through the OBD port, ran the theft-deterrent relearn, and let the security timer do its thing. Whole job was about 35 minutes. He was pulling out of that lot well before his meeting.

He mentioned what the dealer quoted. I let that sit without commenting. Some jobs really don't need three days and a service bay. This was one of them.

Buick Rendezvous Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

What battery does the 2005 Buick Rendezvous key use?▼

None. The 2005 Rendezvous uses a transponder key with no remote fob attached. There are no buttons, no battery compartment, no wireless functions. It is a standard turn key with a chip embedded in the head. You insert it, turn it, and the vehicle reads the chip. That's the whole system. Nothing to replace, no signal range to test.
