A night-shift nurse called me from a diner lot off Ventura Road in Oxnard, right in that shopping corridor stretch. It was close to 11 PM. Her only key to the Verano was gone. Purse, pockets, under the booth, nothing. She was about to call a tow truck and let a dealer deal with it whenever they opened.
I asked her to do one thing before anything else: read me the VIN off the base of the windshield, driver side. She found it through the glass with her phone flashlight. Her insurance app had the registration too.

I pulled into the lot, connected the IM608 to the OBD port under the dash, and ran the all-keys-lost procedure against the BCM. Cut the blade on site, built the fob under the diner's parking lot lights, and registered it. The old missing key got wiped from the system so it could not start anything.
She sat in the driver seat, hit the brake, pressed start, and just watched the tach sweep up like she did not trust it yet. Then she drove home.
The whole thing took about 40 minutes. A dealer would have meant a tow, a wait for parts, and days without her car.
