2014 Buick Verano
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2014 Buick Verano Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy over in Wagon Wheel, Oxnard, on a Sunday afternoon. His 2014 Buick Verano was sitting in his driveway and the blade on his flip key had snapped right at the pivot. Not bent, not stuck, actually snapped. Half of it was still in the door lock.

He'd already called one shop. They told him the cylinder needed to come out, which on a Verano means the door lock and ignition end up keyed differently unless you replace both. That's a whole afternoon of work and parts he didn't need to spend money on.

I brought the right extraction tool for the blade profile on these GM locks. The fragment came out clean, no damage to the wafers inside the cylinder. Once I had it out, I decoded the lock right there on his driveway, cut a new blade to match, and assembled it into a fresh flip key shell with the original electronics transferred over. Then I ran the programming through the OBD port to pair it to the car.

The whole job took about forty minutes. His doors and ignition matched. His remote worked. He didn't need a tow, a new cylinder, or a trip to the dealer.

That last part came up almost by accident. He mentioned what the dealer had quoted him when he'd lost a spare key a year earlier. What I charged him was a fraction of that number. He just nodded like he wished he'd called sooner.
