Got a call from a guy near the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden in Thousand Oaks. His 2016 Chrysler 200 had been acting up for about a week, starting some mornings and refusing others. I pulled up to his driveway, connected my programmer to the OBD port, and read what was stored. The old key's chip generation didn't match M3N-40821302 specs. I programmed a correct proximity key with the right 128-bit AES transponder, cut the emergency blade to his door cylinder, and tested passive entry on all four handles plus the trunk. Then I erased the bad key from the system so it couldn't cause ghost faults.
His CR2032 was also low, reading under 2.8 volts, so I dropped a fresh one in.
He told me he almost traded the car in because he thought the electrical system was going bad. It was the wrong key the whole time.
