She was near Wildwood Regional Park in Thousand Oaks, at a brewery patio on a first date, and her purse disappeared off the bench. Keys, wallet, phone, gone. She borrowed the bartender's phone and called the police, then her roommate, then me.
Her 2000 Chrysler LHS was sitting in the lot with zero keys. The roommate had already called a dealer. Their answer: order a new key, tow the car in, three to five business days. They also mentioned the stolen key could still physically turn the door lock, so maybe get that rekeyed too.
I got there that evening. All-keys-lost on the second-gen LH platform is a different animal than adding a spare. Adding a spare means the SKIM module already trusts a working key and just adds another to its memory. AKL means I pull the four-digit PIN from the SKIM using my IM608, wipe every stored key out of memory, and register fresh transponders from scratch. The old stolen key becomes a dead piece of metal to the immobilizer.
I decoded her door lock, cut two new Y160-PT blanks, and programmed both ID 46 chips to the SKIM. Tested ignition, tested the SKIM light cycling off after the security handshake. Both keys started the car clean.
She drove home that night. The stolen key can still slide into the door cylinder, but the engine will never turn over for it again.
