Got a call from a veteran living in an assisted-care facility over in the Fremont North neighborhood of Oxnard. He had a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser that was set up for his wheelchair, and his only transponder key was getting sketchy. The remote on his separate fob had already quit. I drove out that morning. His car ran the SKIM system with the Y160 keyway. I used my Y160 Lishi to decode the lock right at his parking space, cut a fresh BY160-PT blank, and programmed the 4D-64 transponder through the OBD port. Took a few minutes for the SKIM to accept the new key and cycle the security light off. While I was there I paired his separate remote back to the receiver so he had full lock and unlock again.
I showed him the battery cover on the remote so he would know the signs before it died on him next time. He had two working keys in hand before noon without leaving his building or calling anyone for a ride. The dealer would have charged way more for one key plus the headache of actually getting there.
