A barber near Oxnard College flagged me down at his shop in a strip mall. He had a 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser and one question: would the key be "as good as dealer." Not a backup for a drawer. He wanted a daily-use FOBIK he could trust.

The aftermarket FOBIK I carry uses the same Y160 blade profile, same HITAG2 transponder chip generation, same PCB layout, same four-button membrane. Functional difference in daily use is zero when the blank is good quality.
I cut the blade on my machine to factory bitting, then connected to the OBD-II port to pull the SKIM PIN and register the new key. His vehicle recognized it on the first turn. Lock, unlock, trunk, panic, all four buttons responded clean. Then I cycled the ignition a few times, let it sit, restarted cold. No "NO FOBS DETECTED," no hiccup.
He turned the key over in his hand a couple of times, looking at the back where the Chrysler logo would normally be. Then he shrugged and clipped it on his ring.
The whole job took about 25 minutes. He saved a good chunk over what the dealer wanted and never left his parking lot.
