Out near Port Hueneme Pier, a woman flagged me down in the parking area off Surfside Drive. She wasn't my scheduled appointment. She'd seen the EZ Car Keyz van and asked if I could help after I finished my current job.

I checked my stock. HD113 blank, MEGAMOS-compatible transponder chip, both on the van. I pulled the key code through NASTF's factory security database, which gave me the original bitting, then cut the blade on my mobile machine. After that, I connected to the OBD-II port with my programmer, read the immobilizer ECU, and registered the new transponder alongside her existing key so both worked.
She sat on the hood and watched the whole thing. When I handed her the new key and she turned it over in her hand, she just said, "That's it?" Fifteen minutes, no appointment, no dealer trip. She went back to looking for the lost one with a lot less panic in her step.
