Got a call from someone out near Lake Casitas Recreation Area in Ojai. She had a 2008 Jeep Liberty and needed a spare key made before a road trip. I pulled the key code from the SKIM module through the OBD port, cut a fresh Y160 blade on my mobile machine, and cloned the 4D64 transponder using my VVDI2. No need to go through the full two-key on-board programming procedure since she had a working original present. Clone route is faster and cleaner when you already have a donor.
Cut the blade, seated a fresh CR2032, then ran through every button: lock, unlock, trunk, panic, remote start. Tested ignition start three times. Walked across the lot and tested remote range from about 40 feet out. Everything hit.
The whole thing took maybe 25 minutes. She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a wait of over a week just to get the appointment, plus a tow since they wouldn't come to her. I was there same day, on site, for a fraction of what they wanted.
