2009 Jeep Liberty Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from Wheeler Hot Springs in Ojai. A woman who works in real estate had actually seen one of my Jeep videos on YouTube before she ever needed help. She watched a Wrangler key replacement, saw the cut and the programming, bookmarked the channel. Months later, her 2009 Liberty's five-button fob started dropping range and the remote start wouldn't fire unless she was standing next to the hood.
When I got there she already knew what tool I was going to pull out. That was a first.
Her fob was the OHT692427AA, five buttons including remote start, part number 68029834. I built a fresh remote head key on the VVDI Key Tool, cut the Y160-PT blade to match her door, and programmed through the OBD port. The SKIM system on these third-gen Libertys (KK platform) accepts up to eight keys, and she only had the one dying fob registered. So now she had two.
Tested every button. Three clean ignition cycles. Walked across the car wash lot to check RF range on lock, unlock, and remote start. All solid.
She said she liked that the person in the videos was the same person standing at her car. No dispatch center, no unmarked van, no stranger. Just the guy from the channel, doing the same work she already watched.
