There's a mosque parking lot off Erringer Road in West Simi Valley. I've done a few jobs out there because it's a quiet spot and people can wait comfortably. This one was different from the first call.
The owner told me upfront that he'd already had someone out. Paid them, watched them work, and walked away with a key that cranked the engine and then died in two seconds flat. I showed him the confirmation screen on my tablet before I packed up. He'd been burned once already, so I wanted him to see the finished state, not just take my word for it.
The dealer quote he'd gotten before all this would have been a significant chunk of money, plus a tow since the car wasn't driving. He was already out what he paid the first guy. At least this time it was done and it stayed done.
