A third-shift worker near Rocky Peak Trail in Simi Valley called me around 11 PM. His 2019 Forte EX was parked in the driveway, push-button start, and his only smart key had just stopped communicating. The dash kept cycling "Key is not detected" every time he hit the start button. I programmed the new CQOFD00430, cut the emergency insert blade on site, then walked the full check: lock, unlock, trunk, panic, proximity detection at both front handles, and push-button start from cold. Everything talked.
He just stood there in his driveway watching the engine turn over, like he expected it to argue. It didn't.
The whole thing took about 25 minutes. He was back on schedule for his shift the next night, no tow, no dealer wait, for a fraction of what that route would have cost.
