A guy in the Oak Park area of Simi Valley found me through my YouTube channel before he ever needed a locksmith. He told me he had watched one of my Kia Forte key replacement videos at a dog boarding place, the whole thing start to finish, and saved my number. When his 2014 Forte flip key started dropping signal before a road trip, he already knew who to call.
He pulled it out and I could see the issue before I even touched it. The OSLOKA-OKA870T shell was cracked at the pivot, and the flip blade was loose enough to wobble. Battery contacts inside looked corroded around the edges. CR2032 was original.
I swapped the internals into a fresh 4-button shell, new CR2032, tested the remote. Lock, unlock, trunk, panic. All four hit from the parking lot gate. Then three clean starts in a row with the mechanical blade, because on these non-immobilizer Fortes the blade is what actually starts the car. The remote is just remote.
He stood there watching the whole time, same way he watches the videos. Said it was weird seeing it happen to his own car instead of someone else's. I get that a lot.
