2015 Lincoln MKT Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a rideshare driver parked at a shop near Westlake Village. He'd already paid somebody else to solve this, and it didn't get solved.
He'd found one of those low-bid Google ads, a locksmith showed up, and by the end of it the remote functions on his 2015 Lincoln MKT fob were working fine. Lock, unlock, all of it. But every time he pressed the start button, the dash threw a key-not-detected warning and the engine wouldn't turn over. So he had a fob that worked from the parking lot but not from the driver's seat. That's a specific kind of failure. The remote pairing went through, but the immobilizer enrollment didn't complete. Those are two separate registration steps on this system, and the first locksmith only finished one of them.
He found me through Google Guaranteed and asked how to verify I was licensed before I came out. That's a fair question and I respect it. I gave him my BSIS license number on the phone and he looked it up on the state site while we were still talking. Took about two minutes.
When I got there, I connected my diagnostic equipment, ran the full key registration including both the remote and the immobilizer enrollment, and confirmed all five buttons were operational and that the push-to-start was reading the fob cleanly with the security indicator behaving correctly afterward.
I quoted him a number before I touched anything. That number didn't change when I was done. He told me the dealer had quoted him roughly double just for the programming, not counting a new key. He'd already paid the first guy on top of that. This job, done right, came out to way less than the whole mess he'd been through.
