Got a call from someone near the Pleasant Valley Bike Trail in Camarillo. 2014 E350, silver, parked in the driveway. No keys at all. Long story involving a lost purse, but the short version: zero working keys and a car that needed to move by the next morning.
All-keys-lost on a W212 is a real job, not a quick reprogram. The EIS module on these uses NEC processors with FBS3 encryption, so every old key has to get wiped before a new one registers. I pulled the EIS data through OBD, read the key file, generated a new 5WK47283 remote head key, and cut the blade to factory spec right on site.
The part people never think about: the ESL. The electronic steering lock has to handshake with the new key data too, or you get a steering column that stays locked even after the engine fires. I verified the N360 module accepted the new credentials, then tested ignition, remote lock, remote unlock, panic, and trunk release. Four buttons, all responding.
She stood in the driveway watching the whole thing, arms crossed, like she was waiting for something to go wrong. When the engine turned over clean on the first try, she just nodded. That was it.
The dealer route on these runs days of waiting and a tow to the service bay. This was done on the spot for way less.
