2005 Porsche Cayenne Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Cold Spring is quiet at night. That's one of the things people like about that part of Montecito. It's also the part where there's no Porsche dealer within easy reach, and "I'll just bring it in tomorrow" only works if you have a second car.
I got the call around eight in the evening. A woman staying at a property off Cold Spring Road had dropped her flip key in the bathroom sink and then, because the night wasn't going well enough already, left it sitting in a puddle of water on the counter for about an hour before she thought to dry it out. By the time she called me, the remote functions were completely dead. No lock, no unlock, no response at all. She had a presentation the next morning and the car was her only way to get there.
I pulled up to the property with my bag and she met me at the gate. The fob was a standard remote flip key for the first-generation Cayenne. When I popped the housing, the board had visible water marks. The transponder side was probably still fine, but I wasn't going to bet a service call on probably.
I verified the immobilizer data through the OBD port, confirmed what was already enrolled, and programmed a replacement fob on site. Cut the blade on my machine to match her door and ignition. Tested every button, tested the start, walked the doors. Took about forty minutes total, most of which was the programming sequence doing what programming sequences do.
She mentioned the dealer as I was packing up. They'd told her two business days minimum, and that was just to get the process started. She had one night. That's really the whole story.
