Guy near Hammonds Beach in Montecito called me from the parking area by the sushi spot. Said his 2007 Cayenne had one key left and the buttons on it were going soft. He'd already lost the spare somewhere in his house months ago and kept putting off dealing with it.

I pulled up and popped his remaining KR55WK45022 flip key open on the hood. The remote board looked fine, but the rubber button pad had that classic first-gen wear where the lock button barely made contact anymore. The Megamos 48 chip inside was reading clean, so the immobilizer side was solid.
I cut a new flip key blank to match, paired the transponder through the diagnostic port by reading the PIN off the BCM, and registered both keys fresh so the old lost one got wiped from the system. Tested the remote lock, unlock, and hatch on both fobs. Walked every door.
He kept flipping the new key open and closed like a kid with a lighter. Whole thing took about 35 minutes.
He had assumed this was a tow-it-to-the-dealer, wait-a-week situation. It was a parking lot visit for a fraction of what they quoted him.
