Got a call from a woman staying at a hotel near the East Area One neighborhood in Santa Paula. She had a 2012 Porsche Cayenne, one smart key, and that key had just gone for a swim in a bathroom sink.
She fished it out fast, but not fast enough. The fob was dead. No passive entry, no start button response, nothing. She tried holding it against the steering column where the KESSY antenna ring sits. Still nothing. The water got into the board and killed it.
She had already called Porsche. Their answer was bring the car in, wait for a replacement key to ship, come back again for the programming appointment. Two separate trips, multiple days. She had somewhere to be the next morning.
I drove out that night. Opened up her old fob to confirm the board was corroded. Then I pulled the immobilizer data from the instrument cluster using my VVDI Prog to read the EEPROM. On the 92A Cayenne, the cluster holds the KESSY PIN and crypto data needed to pair a new fob.
Cut the HU66 emergency blade on my Condor, programmed the new KR55WK50138 through OBD, and tested all five buttons plus passive entry on both front doors and the hatch. About 30 minutes start to finish, at her car, that night. She got to her morning commitment without rearranging her whole week around a dealer schedule.
