2017 Porsche Cayenne Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from an oral surgeon in East Santa Paula. He was parked on sublevel 2 of an underground garage and his Cayenne wasn't responding to the fob at all.
No unlock, no start, nothing. He'd already called a tow company and they turned around at the entrance ramp because the ceiling was too low for a flatbed. The dealer told him to get the car out first, then bring it in. The car wouldn't move. That advice wasn't worth much.
I drove in and walked down with my bag and my laptop. The spiral ramp was tight but a regular van fits fine. I found his Cayenne right where he said, second level, backed into a corner.
I pulled the diagnostics through the OBD port, confirmed the immobilizer was communicating properly, and programmed a replacement fob on site. The five-button fob matched his factory unit. I cut the emergency blade, tested every function, walked all four door handles, and had him do the start himself so he knew it worked before I packed up.
The car never moved until he drove it out. The dealer would have needed it on their lot before they'd even look at the job. That's not always possible, and this was a good example of why.
The dealer comparison came up in conversation while I was packing. He'd already gotten a quote. He saved a good chunk, and more importantly, he didn't have to figure out how to get a dead car out of a sublevel garage first.
