Out near Glen Tavern Inn in Santa Paula, a guy texted me a GPS pin with a photo of his 2018 Porsche Cayenne sitting on a gravel lot next to horse stables. His smart key had taken a dive into arena sand during a polo match. The proximity system just kept flashing "No Key Detected" on the dash cluster.
He had already tried holding the dead fob against the steering column, which is the right backup move on these. Nothing. The fob was packed with fine grit.
I drove out with the full Porsche kit loaded. First thing, I pulled KESSY module data through my ACDP as a safety backup, because you never start Porsche key work without a known-good dump. Then I cracked open the fob. The car-shaped housing on these 92A Cayennes is a three-button layout with a Hitag Pro chip inside. His antenna board was corroded from moisture in the sand. No amount of cleaning was saving it.
So I swapped his transponder data into a fresh fob shell, cut the emergency HU162T blade on my Condor, and programmed the new key on site. The whole thing took about 90 minutes, mostly because I was careful with the backup and the blade bitting.
His Cayenne started on that gravel lot. A dealer would have meant a tow, a wait for a key shipped from Germany, and a bill that would have made the horse wince.
