Got a call from a guy over in the College Area in Ventura. He had a 2016 Ram Promaster, the big cargo body, and his only key blade was chewed up enough that the WIN module wasn't reading the turn cleanly. Sometimes it would start, sometimes the dash just sat there with the red security light solid.
He uses a wheelchair. Getting across town to a Ram dealer was a whole production, and the dealer wanted him to have the van towed in. That was a non-starter.
I drove to the lot where he was parked that morning. Promaster uses the SIP22 keyway, not the CY24 you see on Rams with Fobiks. I decoded his ignition cylinder with the Lishi SIP22, cut a fresh blade, and transferred it into a new key housing with his existing RX2TRF198 electronics and a fresh CR2032. The Megamos 48 chip was still healthy, just the blade was the problem.
Paired the 3-button remote back to the van through the OBD port, then tested every function: lock, unlock, panic, ignition cycle, and made sure the security light did its normal flash-then-off instead of staying solid.
He sat in his chair the whole time and watched. Didn't have to call his aide. Didn't have to arrange a tow. Didn't have to sit in a dealer waiting room for half a day.
